    The Brady Bunch

I am a part of the Brady Bunch. No, there is no sitcom about my family and unfortunately, we have neither a dog nor a maid. Nevertheless, I have three older brothers (including one with the same name as a famous quarterback), two younger sisters, and our last name, believe it or not, is Brady. Not only am I a member of this unique family, but I also have a special place within it. I am both a middle child and a ‘first’ child because I am the fourth of six, yet the first-born girl. Life in such an unusual spot, in such an unusual family, is extraordinarily different from how it is portrayed on screen, and it has shaped me in a variety of ways. Growing up in a big family has both ups and downs and it is not always as picturesque as it may seem.…

The concept of "The Brady Bunch" started back in 1966 when Sherwood Schwartz (the creator and producer of the show) heard that somewhere between 20-30% of all families had at least one child from a previous marriage. Men were expected to provide for their families, and woman were expected to provide meals, a clean home, as well as emotional, and mental support to her husband and children Yet another example, of this family dynamic was The Brady Bunch, a hit television show that aired from 1969 to 1974. Mike and Carol Brady, struggled to blend…

'B-Movies'. With these type of films, lack of money usually effects the whole production. It's what happens when as a filmmaker, you dream of having a budget in the millions, and instead you're asking actors to work for scale because you don't have the budget to pay them what might get in another production. The best people to hire, asking too money to even be considered. Plenty of good films are still made under these circumstances. I'd label it a horror film, but in all actuality, Bigfoot…

Compare and Contrast Sitcom- Essay Throughout the decades we as viewers witnessed various family TV sitcoms evolve as generation’s change, with many managing to maintain several of the same family core values. I strongly feel that The Brady Bunch, which debuted in the 1960’s and Full House debuting in the 1990’s best illustrate a significant gap between two generations of families that share similarities amongst family values despite their difference in family structure and roles. Both sitcoms…

interpret this strife out on the camera. Usually this strife was the “destruction of savagery and the regeneration of white America” (Cawelti 144). While America progressed culturally and socially, the Western was a “counter-statement” (Cawelti 149) to this progression. Women and minorities were fighting for equal rights as the Western fought to keep the evolution of American society at bay. Western film was fighting hard against real life and people of all groups wanting civil rights. One…

of football throughout the years. But there is one that comes to mind, his name is Tom Brady.
