    Tessellations , Tessellations are a arrangement of shapes closely fitted together , especially of polygons in a repeated patterns without gaps or overlapping . They make really pretty designs if you do it right . Another word for Tessellations is “tiling”.Tessellations are catching to the eye and they are found in the regular everyday patterns such as , bathroom floors , backsplashes , turtle shells , honeycombs, raspberries, quilts and fish . “Tessellations are also widely used in the design of a fabric and wallpaper”. You can turn a Tessellation in all directions and it would come out the design . Tessellations are symmetric , meaning the object is dihedral or mirror symmetry. Mirror symmetry is not the only kind of symmetry present in tessellations. There is rotational , translational , and glided symmetry . Rotational symmetry is when the tessellation can be rotated around a certain point and come out to be the same when turned . Translational symmetry is when you can shift the whole tessellation. The geometry of tiles , different kinds of shapes can make tessellations, they just have to be in a pattern all the way around .”The first tilings were made from square tiles , as an art form tessellation is particularly rich in mathematics”.
