    One of the things that made the first day at Middle Tennessee State University great was that it was the first time that I realized how close I was to achieving my goal. Since I was a child, I had dreamed of studying abroad to earn my degree. I had already been studying in the United States for some time. During that time, I was studying the English language to be prepared for the academic language I would face at the university level of studying. Studying language has a way of bringing a person down, though. Any small mistake can seem like a disaster. It can be quite discouraging on a daily basis. Once I had advanced through enough levels to be able to gain admittance to the university, though, I was beyond ecstatic. Here on the first day at Middle Tennessee State University, I knew that I would have a chance to utilize all of the skills that I had just spent countless hours studying.
