    Indoor tanning is a very controversial practice in today’s mainstream society. There are many people who use them frequently and wouldn’t know what to do without them. Mary Adams conducted a study on the perspectives of collegiate tanners, and 73% of her participants admitted to using tanning beds, even though they believed they were harming their bodies by doing it (Adams). However, there are others who heed the warnings and stay away from the fiery furnaces. Many studies have been done on the dangers of tanning beds, and almost everyone is aware that the Center for Disease Control has linked them to skin cancers including melanoma (which is the deadliest type), basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma (Indoor Tanning).
