    Sweeney Todd was rescued at sea by a young sailor by the name of Anthony Hope, and the two are on their way to London. Once they reach land Todds mood is worsened by a crazy beggar who asks Todd and Hope for spare change she also appears to recognize Todd. Anthony’s innocence is discouraged by Todd, when Todd tells a story about a barber, his wife and a corrupt judged who exiled the barber just to get at the barbers wife. After Todd enters a nearby meat pie shop on Fleet Street he asks the owner if the upstairs apartment is occupied, she tells Todd that a man named Benjamin Barker who was sentenced to life in prison on a false charge by the evil judge Turpin because the judge was lustful to Barkers wife Lucy; Turpin and his friend Beadle Bamford, lured Lucy to the judge’s house and raped her. Mrs. Lovett(meat pie shop owner) confirms her suspicious of Todd being Benjamin Barker by the way he reacts to her story, she then tells Todd that his wife was poisoned and his infant daughter, Johanna, became the ward of the judge. Todd then proceeds to swear revenge on the judge and Beadle, Mrs lovett shows Todd his old sterling razors he use to own before he was sentenced to exile.…
