    “Do you want to go to summer school?” My dad asked me during our conversation about getting ahead in high school. When he first asked this, I thought he was joking. I thought to myself, “who in their right mind would go to school in the summer? And I’m doing well in school so why should I go?” Later he explained that the negative connotation attached to summer school is false, and that many students utilize summer school to get ahead of the game. Considering that I was in eighth grade and had just finished Algebra I, this seemed like a good idea. The plan was to take Geometry G/T over the summer and then jump right into Algebra II G/T my freshman year of high school.
