    Obedience or Resistance In the story “Astronomer 's Wife”, astronomer is the father figure, the plumber acts like the mother figure, and astronomer’s wife, Mrs Ames, represents the child figure in the story. Undoubtedly, astronomer has all father figure’s traits.
