    • 10 Pages

The black SUV is no longer behind her, it's no longer even within what one would guess a five mile radius of Clara, as if just up and disappeared. Clara makes it home in time for dinner, but does not inform her mother of her recent encounter with another black SUV sighting. They just sat there and ate, in silence. THE PRESENT: Today is Clara’s 14th birthday, and it’s one she would never forget, one no one would. She decided to spend it with her two best friends, Emily and Addison. These three girls have been together since anyone could remember, they would do anything for each other. Anything. It was last period when Addison almost blew her top. Clara wouldn't stop tapping her feet over the eagerness to get out of class and celebrate her birthday. “Clara,” Addison whispered, “If you tap your feet any longer I will explode, and we wouldn't want that now would we?” “Ugh, you're no fun Addi.” Clara whispered back smiling. When the bell finally rang Clara was the first one to blast out of there, she was so quick she didn’t even notice the guy that she ran past, or more like pushed out of the way. Clara kept waking thought, didn’t even look back to of seen what happened. For as she saw her other best friend approach,…

leave when the odds are against you. An example would be: “Hey Jessica stop talking to Mina she 's a slut”. Jessica would still remain great friends with Mina despite person x calling the friendship off. Jessica would defend Mina stating, “ Mina is not a slut get your facts correct”. Loyal friends are always there for you during your good and bad times. When shit hits the fan that loyal friend is still there. The third category, the friend that is a mentor. We all need a mentor in our lives…

purposes, which requires faithful and active obedience, unwavering commitment, and devotion from the one called. (Robinson, N. (2014, January 28). God 's calling to missions is not authoritative the way the Scriptures are. The calling should never be challenged. Our calling is in our own heart. The calling is the work of God to bring our heart closer to conviction. This conviction is of God, and it delivers utter peace. Everyone is in search for their purpose in life. They need this purpose and…

her, and looking back on it now, their lack of involvement tainted my view of what pastoral ministry truly is. When I was seventeen I had the unique opportunity to go to England on a missions trip with my youth group. Bitter sweet tragedy struck when my sister called me from across seas and told me that she had the opportunity to personally lead my father to the Lord just before he had a stroke that had put him into a coma. I immediately came home to find him still in this unresponsive coma,…

like to clear my mind is by getting out into nature and going for a walk to just take my mind off whatever is bothering me and put my focus on something else. It also helps to take a walk after I have been studying for a while cause it gets out some of my energy and refocus on what I am trying to learn or get done. Last but certainly not least, we focused on being spiritually whole, and how it is the foundation on which all other facets are built on. This topic covered what you believe in and…

several years. It is difficult to admit, but I fell prey to seeing “its faults and its weaknesses, are distracted by the ordinary folks who make up the typical church, and are easily disillusioned with the way it operates” (116). My separation from the church began when my mom was diagnosed with a mental illness and ended with a high-ranking member in the church who barely knew my mom making a comment about her soul being “condemned to hell” but there was still hope for me. In hindsight, I…

God places passions in our hearts and that drives us to find out purpose in our lives, but He often times does not tell us the full picture or all the details because this requires us to trust Him more. Philippians 1:6 tells us this directly “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” We all have two callings in life I believe, the first is a calling is to be in a personal relationship…

As I look over the vast experience’s which encompass my spiritual journey I am awe of God and how He has shaped my call into what it is today. There are times when we are bombarded with a plethora of questions. Am I truly called by God? Am I walking in my true calling? These questions, rather the answers to these questions allow us to press toward the high calling of Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:4). It is in this press, as the Apostle Paul calls it, we find the essence of our calling. It is…

my voice to engage in the concept and calling of The Upside Down Kingdom. I further hope to engage the congregation, as well as individuals, in new ways of thinking about liberation, ethics, and justice. Within the context of the Abundant Life Center, I believe the true meaning of these words have been minimized or lack of direction given in our ministries. Kraybill states, for example, “Justice has become a worn out, hallow expression, an abstract and detached battle cry.” The congregation…

unsatisfied. Guinness makes a point in his book, The Call, “for the secret of man’s being is not only to live...but to live for something definite…”. I believe that Guinness is showing us that we can not be fulfilled or content until we fill ourselves with God and His calling for us. Romans 8:28-30 states “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the…
