When you’re born and raised on a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you don’t get to experience all four seasons like, colorful fall leaves, thick white snow, and blooming flowers. However, on a small island the one advantage you have is being able to watch the sunrise in the east and watch the sunset on the west all in one day. Atmospheric perspective is designed to suggest a 3D space in the 2D space of the picture, and in which forms and objects distant from the viewer (Adams, 2003). This atmospheric perspective can be seen in the sky of the painting, the viewer cannot see anything distinct pass the mountain, but it is implied there is something beyond the mountains. The atmospheric perspective stretches the landscape of the painting, and makes the painting seem bigger than it actually is. Highlights in paintings are…
women's’ hair and the bows tying their hair back; the shine on their hair suggests that the moon is out above them and the bows give them an even more child-like appearance. Today the painting is the located in Paris, France at the Musee d’Orsay museum. Gauguin did several other similar paintings including “Two Women of Tahiti” and “Two Tahitian Women”, the first being the most similar. Overall the painting can be described as very calm and timeless; this piece has been around for more than a…
to Paul Cezanne and how he constructed his works of art, and then compare this to works of art by Matisse and Picasso. We will pull out examples of how Cezanne inspired these two artists and also how these two artists were trying to break free from Cezanne and become known for their own style. Paul Cezanne’s painting, The Large Bathers, painted in 1906 as an oil canvas was a unique painting. Cezanne always was committed to form in his works of art and loves to use color. Like the impressionism…
