Bat Guano Caves The best cave for the students to visit is the Lava River Cave. This is based on the diversity of the bats in the area, the accessibility of the cave and area, and the effect that white nose syndrome, or white nose syndrome, has had on the species of bats that live in the area. This cave in Coconino National Forest is close to the Northern Arizona University, and is by far the best choice for a class studying bats and white nose syndrome of the options given, which are the chosen cave (Lava River Cave), Antelope Cave, Bat Cave Mine, and Grand Canyon Caverns. Lava River Cave is very diverse compared to the other caverns. It has 2 confirmed species, the big brown bat, and the yuma myotis, but it also has a very large list of possible bats of 10. Grand Canyon Caverns has 2 confirmed and 6 possible, Bat Cave Mine has 2 and 7, and Antelope Cave has 2 and 14. This means that Antelope Cave and Lava River Cave have the most species in them most likely. The effect that is caused by having more bat species in the area is that the students have a larger selection of bat guano to study. Admittedly, Antelope Cave is possibly more diverse than Lava River Cave, however, diversity is not the only factor that led to the choice, and it only greater more by a slim number. Also, Lava river cave is by far the best cave for a college class (presumably a fairly large one considering ecology is a popular topic) to visit safely and without many restrictions. Lava River Cave is…

A stalagmite is a geologic formation located at the cave floor created by dripping water. You can remember the name of a stalagmite by the phrase “a stalagmite might reach the ceiling”. Continuing in the tunnels we pass through several doors that preserve the atmosphere and air quality of the cave from drying out. After hiking through the cave tunnels I come to the Middle Cave Lake. Above the lake I notice many stalactites hanging above me. A stalactite is located at the ceiling and is…

I would manage to swim some more and I may of over exaggerated at the time but it still hurt! And I didn’t want to embarrass myself, so I just kept swimming without thinking about it and the pain went away. Over where, the stalagmites were in the big open piece of water, big green catfish with big, black, spots swam below us and startled me half to death. As I was, watching the catfish, they swam away every time someone kicked or hit the water. Huge rocks came out of the water and smaller…

Art is both a language and a form of communication. The language of art can be elaborated in a multitude of ways. These methods include the content, process, or themes of an artwork. The works of art entitled “The Sneak” by Gale Godwin and “I’M (NOT) OKAY by L. Rose Wertz, which I found in the University Gallery, Fulton Hall 109, are prime examples of art being conveyed as its own language through their content. Firstly, “The Sneak” is an oil on canvas painting by Gale Godwin. The painting…

The structures discovered possess two stone rings located deep inside the cave at Bruniquel in southwest France. The researchers believe that these structures suggest how Neanderthals were far more complex organisms that previously thought by archaeologists around the world. An analysis of…
