The possibilities of two unknown microorganisms lead to phenylalanine deaminase test. The detection of phenylalanine deaminase enzyme was carried out by adding ferric chloride to phenyaline slant. First the unknown tube was isolated. This was completed by taking an inoculating loop and spreading the unknown out on to a Nutrient Agar plate. After receiving unknown organism #14, many tests were performed to discover the identity. After running a variety of tests, my results led me to believe that my unknown organism was Klebsiella pneumoniae. K. pneumonia produced a negative-rod gram stain.
