I saw the pink lights distributed around the room because I thought that in plays only used regular colors like white and yellow. The pink light with the other colors blended well together gave the stage a really bright and comfortable warm atmosphere. Throughout the play I realized that the lighting is a really significant piece of theater because it leads the audience know exactly where to look by brightening certain characters or spots in the play. Another Important factor that made the play…

I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable and funny the play actually was. The cast was very animated and absolutely adorable! The stage was small and the audience was close around the stage which added to the enjoyment of the performance. The props and costumes seemed to be from the 1940’s and well placed around the stage. The hidden doors that actually swung open and closed were fabulous and was used perfectly with the story. Elsa Von Grossenknueten played by Carolin Hansa did a great job at…

This afternoon I attended a Sunday matinee for the production of This Random World written by Steven Dietz and directed by Paul Steger put on by the Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film. I thought that the play tied all of the characters together extremely well and it was incredibly well preformed. Although I usually find plays of this genre of no interest to me, this play changed my opinion. I thought that it was really well done. First I would like to discuss the character of Scottie Ward,…

Dead Again uses different lighting techniques to create dramatic contrast and a sense of mood in each scene. This is highlighted through the film noir scenes when dramatic high contrast was achieved by using two extremes of lighting, a lack of light and a heavy amount of light. This was especially shown in the opening interrogation scene. During the scene the light in the room was the only light source present and everything else was in complete darkness. In the scene the contrast was so strong…

Experience: When I realized where my seat was I was a little angry. I was sitting in the front row (row A). When Mark Kendall (The Magic Negro first) appeared on stage, he was very warming and welcoming. This made me feel at ease and not so upset about being in the very front. His scenes were very clever. I really enjoyed the Dr. Seuss scene because he made the story into something that related to the topic. In his version of Green, Eggs, & Ham a white person told Sam he does not say the N word…
