classy, well managed restaurant that is sure to make all of their customers leave happy. Favazza’s is a well-known restaurant to those familiar with “The Hill”. It’s a family place, run by a family business. The very first Favazza’s was in Downtown St. Louis, owned by the father of the current owners of Favazza’s on the Hill, Tony and John. Tony and John Favazza have been in the restaurant business their entire life and said that if they ever wanted to see their father, they had to come into…
The Hill is the Italian community of St. Louis; it has the largest Italian American majority in St. Louis. The population is approximately 2,500 people including myself. It is home to many Italian businesses, mostly restaurant, bakeries, and delis. The name comes from the fact that the highest point of the city is in the Hill’s borders. The Hill community has played a crucial role in my development as a person. In the late 1800s and early 1900s Italians started to settle the area because of…
The 1936 Olympic Games was a monumental event. The XI Olympiad was at its peak for competing nations. These games were the last major international sporting competition before the deadliest war of the twentieth century. Allowing Renegade (Gardens) Saint Louis is home to “about 10,000 parcels of vacant land that have come to public ownership involuntarily through tax foreclosure”(Land). Saint Louis as a result, is barren, as outlined by the graph provided by the USDA Economic Research Service (pictured right). This type of barrenness…
For my site visit, I visited the Holocaust Museum & Learning Center. It is located at 12 Millstone Campus Drive in St. Louis, Missouri. I am extremely happy that I was able to do this visit here. By doing the site visit here I was able to better understand the background information and what all goes into preparing a museum for visitors to come visit. I learned a lot and while I was there, the…

There were even famous criminals there. In 1954 there was a riot that broke out and was chaos. There were people that escaped from here. There is a lot of history that…
In Sarah 's Kendzior 's article, "Ferguson Won 't Heal", she explores St. Louis ' history and contrasts it with it’s present, comparing the bitterness of race riots and the Michael Brown Shooting with the sweetness of cakes that pepper the privileged areas of the city. Kendzior 's article compares Darren Wilson 's administrative leave and the article of "The Grand Jury Says no Now St. Louis make the most of it" with the rubbing of salt in a wound; Ferguson 's explosive history combined with its…
“A league of their own” is a film which follows the story of a women’s league baseball team. The film was set in 1943, a period when baseball was predominately a male sport. We examine the negative view of the females as baseball players and how the females developed to overcome that problem. The film is set…
Getting out our disposable cameras all three of us got pictures of the arch. I remember seeing other cool landmarks of the United States like the largest tire in Michigan, the largest Travel America truck stop, and of course the Saint Louis Arch. I admit, seeing the country was really cool, but under the circumstances of moving cross country were less than ideal. The second day came to a close, and the three-day road trip was almost over, but not without stopping at a KOA campground…
