The Hill is the Italian community of St. Louis; it has the largest Italian American majority in St. Louis. The population is approximately 2,500 people including myself. It is home to many Italian businesses, mostly restaurant, bakeries, and delis. The name comes from the fact that the highest point of the city is in the Hill’s borders. Allowing Renegade (Gardens) Saint Louis is home to “about 10,000 parcels of vacant land that have come to public ownership involuntarily through tax foreclosure”(Land). A majority of these vacant properties are in low-income neighborhoods, the residents of which, live at least a half mile (often more) away from a grocery store with fresh produce. For my site visit, I visited the Holocaust Museum & Learning Center. It is located at 12 Millstone Campus Drive in St. Louis, Missouri. I am extremely happy that I was able to do this visit here. I have always been very interested in the Holocaust and am always open to learning more about it. The Missouri State Penitentiary was the second largest prison in the nation. It was very harsh and the other inmates were criminals. They were there for murder, theft, and lots of other horrible things. The inmates were cruel to each other and hated the guards. There were lots of different people there for many different reasons. “A league of their own” is a film which follows the story of a women’s league baseball team. The film was set in 1943, a period when baseball was predominately a male sport.
