    Artists use their own personal context and connection to their society. Barbara Kruger does this through her work “Buy Me, I’ll Change Your Life” as she confronts consumer culture, economic and social issues. Another work by Kruger “We’ve received orders not to move” this work also reflecting her societal link. The Guerilla Girls are a group of anonymous feminists that fight racism and sexism in the art world. Two of their works include, “How many works by women artists were in the Andy Warhol and Termaine auctions at Sotheby’s?”and “Do women have to be naked to get into the Met,” these all representing the Guerrilla Girls strong connection with society and the issues surrounding equality and racism. Cindy Sherman an American photographer focusing her works on intense consumerism and image proliferation at the end of the 20th century. Some of these works include; Untitled Film Still #13. 1978 and Untitled Film Still #6. 1977, these works communicate fictional femininity that took hold in post-war America. These artists use the own particular relation to society to represent how it is affecting them and their audience’s. Barbra Kruger born in New Jersey, 1945 is most famous for her silk prints where she places a direct and concise caption across the surface of a found photograph.
