In an unusual set of circumstances, I found myself both off from work and without my boys, on a Saturday and with absolutely no plans. Becoming bored by the afternoon, with no distractions, nothing worth watching on TV, and a desire to make a meal that didn't include hot dogs, I decided to invite Joe over for dinner. I met Joe at shortly after I started working at Jolly's Donuts. The place was so new they barely had a functional kitchen, and Joe had been called in to install the industrial refrigeration system to replace the small home refrigerator they opened with. Coming to the conclusion I wanted some company, I decided to call him instead of waiting for one of his random appearances. "Hey, Joe! You busy tonight?" "Don't think so," he answered after a short pause, "I have a few small jobs I need to get done today, but should be finished by 5. Why?" "I'm a free woman!" Giggling as I said it, "Wanna come over for dinner, just…

William Cronon’s Changes in the Land – Indians, Colonists and the Ecology of New England, depicts the changes that occurred in New England after the arrival of the Europeans. It not only provides a detailed account of the changes that took place from a historical point of view, but also from an ecological pint of view – meaning it not only paints a picture of how the European settlers changed the lives of New England’s Indian inhabitants, but it also clearly shows how the arrival of the…
