Love,Life, And Liberty “A discussion on the theme of life in, Spoon River Anthology” There are many reasons and themes in spoon river. The 3 poems I picked had many life events that would go hand in hand in what happens in life of present day. My favorite 3 was Constance Hately, Kindsey Keene, and Benjamine Lantier. All of these poems were about important life events. Some were very good others were very poor. In all of these poems they prove what life is like and how beautiful but also go hard it can be. In every single one they give a statement about what they should have done differently or what they would have liked to do. First off Constance Hately was chosen because she enjoyed life and she always lived it to the fullest. She never just let life pass her bye she took charge and made sure that life was all that it should be. She did have a few things that held her down. She was taking care of her siblings since her folks had gone. They never were a burden to her she felt grateful that she had the opportunity to make sure they did great things with their lives. She did fall ill many years later and she speaks of the times that she so misses taking care of them. And now she will not get to see them all grow up so fast as she has…

A gold spoon represents a person born in a wealthy family who support him/her financially on education and has a power to get him/her employed in a large corporation. On the other hand, a soil spoon represents a person born in a poor family who cannot do any of the above. Maybe Holly is right. We can only be relative to determine wealthy: “If we’re cleaning their house, they’re wealthy” (Ehrenreich 95). However, this does not mean that “[w]e’re nothing to these people” (Ehrenreich 100). Wealthy…

The Oxford English Dictionary defines being “spoon-fed” as being “fed with a spoon.” And although this is most certainly true, there is so much more to the word. As a child, I loved to be spoon-fed – mashed carrots, soft yams, mushy peas. I loved them all. But it didn’t end there. I also had an insatiable curiosity. Where did the dinosaurs go? Why is that man homeless? Where do babies come from? My parents would always patiently listen and spoon-feed me a quick and simple answer. Growing up I…
