and it only makes sense that public spending is likely to go under more strain in the future. Money used for bureaucratic demands could alternatively be used for private health care, creating free markets, leading to increased competition and eventually reduced bureaucracy through increased efficiency and productivity. Increased bureaucracy limits health and treatment choices, hence leading to control over the economy. Hayek would therefore find the NHS concerning and in danger of collapse as further intervention may lead to further complications arising. The government should simply observe issues. This doesn’t mean the government should follow the doctrine of laissez-faire but as Hayek explained, “an active government is essential in order to release the energies of individualism” (Gamble, 1996c). Hayek would argue that the government must limit its activities within the NHS and provide provisions to the system instead. Economies are too complex to be understood by individuals as only a small perspective is seen (Grocott, 2015). This can be applied to the NHS, where within it are many complex organisations that by intervening and trying to solve a problem, will only lead to consecutive problems which cannot be understood by individuals who wish to control markets and economies. Francesco disproved the theory of spontaneous generation through his controlled experiment with the maggots and the meat. Redi hypothesized that maggots did not magically appear from the meat, like the people at the time thought, but rather hatched from the objects deposited by the flies. He tested this by placing meat in two jars, one with no lid (the control group) and the other with a cloth cover (the experimental group). If spontaneous generation was valid, then both jars would’ve had…

They worked on disproving spontaneous generation. Also known as abiogenesis, spontaneous generation is the belief that living things could arise from nonliving things. Worms and flies were often seen on decaying meat, which led many to believe that that’s where they originated from. Francesco Redi was the first out of the three to try and disprove this theory. He proved that flies and maggots do not come from rotting meat, but from the eggs laid on the meat. His experiment, however, did not turn…
