I delivered the ‘Informative Speech’ speech on October 19, 2015. As I was delivering the speech, I noticed that I had strengths with visual aids, a clear presentation, and content. I also had weaknesses with my speaking pace and nervousness. What I did well: Before giving the speech, I looked over my notecards so I would not forget what I would say during the speech. I had a clear visual aid with most of my key facts up on a PowerPoint. This helped me because I could focus on the audience rather…
Secondary features are all too familiar to a stutterer. Secondary features are unrelated to speech production; however, many stutterers believe that these features will help them reduce or eliminate the stutter. Examples of secondary features are escape and avoidance behaviors. An escape behavior is a specific behavior that the stutterer believes will reduce or eliminate the stuttered moment. Examples of escape behaviors are shaking your head, widening your eyes, or twitching your shoulder…
I had a really fun experience preparing for and constructing my Informative speech. The format of the speech is great because it lets the students select a topic that they are interested in and allows them to talk about a topic they are passionate about. I choose the topic of Landsmeer Golf Club because it was interesting for me to gain even more knowledge on a topic that I was familiar with. When preparing for my speech, I started off making a rough draft outline, and also making a bibliography…
from one point to the other was very smooth and clear. A good concluding statement was in the speech, but the speaker did not summarize all the points that she presented. The speaker did make good eye contacts with the audience; however, there were few filler words. Furthermore, she used her visual aids very well because her visual aids were interesting and were presented at a good timing. Also, her speech was done in given amount of time. Overall, I would give this speaker a grade of 19 because…
Betsy Elrod Jenna Walters Section 311 Informative Speech Video Assignment Upon completing my informative speech on grocery store bakery cupcakes versus homemade cupcakes I was pleasantly surprised. I reviewed my main points, but didn’t try to memorize my speech. I could have done a few things better, but overall I believe I did well. I personally think that I improved from my demonstration speech to my informative speech. The introduction to my speech went very well in my opinion. I knew what…
What I think I did well: I think I played long notes well and extended the notes to their full value, for example, in measures 6-8 I didn’t pause in between the half notes. I also think I articulated well because at the slurs I didn’t tongue and on the notes without slurs, I remembered to tongue them. There are many measures in the song where there are slurs, but in measure 5 I slurred the first three notes and tongued the last one. Most of the time, I didn’t breathe in between notes until…
did an excellent job with the overall speech on the different parts of the guitar. My rate was just right, I had vocal variety in all the right places to emphasize on certain aspects, and used my guitar as a visual aid effectively. I also improved my page turning and smiling which I lacked on in my first speech. However, not everything was perfect. I had two grammatical errors towards the end of my speech and possibly some bias. Compared to my first speech, I was not nearly as nervous. Any…

Listener Review #3 After watching my videotape several times, I am not satisfied of my performance. It wasn’t good as I expected. I feel I was still too nervous and not confident to have a speech in front of people. I remember when I was speaking, my whole body was still shaking a lot. I couldn’t control and stop myself. When I was nervous I did stuffs that I am not used to do it. I didn’t know why I did that. For example, the jacket is the evident showed that I was too nervous. I should take it…
Delivering the Pet Peeve speech was on the whole a relaxed and enjoyable experience. When the assignment was first issued, I felt a bit reluctant to deliver the speech; I’m only friends with a handful of students in the class, and probably disliked by the rest, so I couldn’t be confident in having a receptive audience. Due to my previous experience public speaking during coffee houses however, my apprehension was easily surmountable. I believe these types of opportunities to perform in front of…
