After my persuasive speech about why people should study Chinese, I felt relieved and confident. I delivered this speech within the time limits, spoke two languages in a confident manner, and engaged my audience. While I walked out feeling good about my speech, I could also point out everything that went wrong. My video link did not play where I wanted, but it did not fluster me. Then, I forgot to provide more of a background for my sources and repeat the questions when asked, but acknowledging mistakes is the first step to rectifying them. Overall, my persuasive speech went well and could have benefited from some alterations, but I am proud for finishing my last speech on a positive note. When addressing an audience, clearly articulating…
Informative Speech: Outline: “Managing Stress within the Classroom” Specific Purpose: To inform my audience of the ways of managing public-speaking stress in the classroom. Introduction: Here we are, at that moment of panic as a shattering feeling stretches to our very core. It is at this time, that all eyes are thrust upon us. It is at this moment, standing before the class, that many of us freeze in fear. The majority of us have likely experienced this overwhelming sense of anxiety when faced…
When I am up front in of an audience various things happen to me. My face starts to get hot and red really quick so then the room becomes very hot as well. Along with my hands start to get sweaty so that causes me to move my fingers around to make them not as sweaty. I like to shift my weight back and forth because it keeps me moving. Also when I am giving a speech I feel like I can only make eye contact with the person that is grading me and just glance at the audience here and there. Just…
I performed a speech about why teenage relationships are beneficial on November 1st, 2016 in front of my speech class. Public speaking is something that I had been practicing since I was in the sixth grade, however it is apparent that I continue to struggle with nerves. When my teacher called my name, I realized that I was shaking and trembling pretty badly. I told myself I had practiced beforehand and I knew what I was doing. There are many things I noticed while reviewing my speech, critiquing…
Reflection I remember going to the College advisor and trying to figure out what class I would be taking for the fall semester of 2016. I was a little late in the enrollment process and some of the classes I wanted to take were either not available or completely filled. So my advisor asked me if I would be interested in taking speech class. I thought to myself “I don’t really like talking in front of people but it is a requirement.” So I signed up for Introduction to Speech Communication…

As a whole, I do not believe that this was my best speech, but there were parts of this speech that I believe that I did better on than the last speech. Like B.B. King I love to learn and hope that in my next speech I will notice new areas of growth in my speaking ability. My reflection begins with eye contact and body movement, moving on to the use of voice, and ending with the organization of the speech. Opening with delivery, the thing that stuck out the most was that my eye contact was poor…
situation, the topic, and the audience. The informative speech was one of the harder speeches I had to give since it had to include more research, and more hard facts then the previous speeches. Therefore, it needed more preparation. During preparation part of the informative speech a key learning moment for me was that you can’t procrastinate and do it the night before. That means don’t procrastinate on topic selection, research, or on the crafting of the outline and speech. The book states…
Informative Speech Self-Evaluation Assignment Speech Topic: Ninjas 1. Evaluate the success of your introduction. I feel that my introduction did a good job of getting my audience’s attention by catching there attention with the picture of one of the disguise commonly used by ninjas. I also feel that I did an ok job at establishing my credibility. But I think that a rushed a bit at the begging and started off a little flustered. 2. Evaluate your delivery. For most of my speech I feel that I…
For my self-critique assessment, I chose to critique my commemorative speech, which was on basketball. Overall, I think that I did a good job on this speech, but there is always room for improvement. First, I think that I had a lot of good aspects to this speech, which include that: I picked a topic that I was passionate about, discussed various life lessons that someone can learn from playing the game of basketball, elaborated on why I feel it should be commemorated, and incorporated some…
