    The ‘Clever Buoy’ is the world’s first shark detection buoy, which uses advanced and specifically designed sonar and identification software to detect the sharks’ movements. The Clever Buoy system is calibrated to detect sonar images which match the swim patterns, shapes and wakes which sharks parade, allowing this innovative technology to differentiate sharks from other marine life. The Clever Buoy is as an innovation as it has used existing real-time communication technologies for a newly refined purpose, as well as incorporating emerging forms of technology (bespoke sonar and identification software by Shark Mitigation Systems (SMS)) into the development of the system.
