Bailey Mehalick Section 3 April 10, 2017 CVS Health Write Up Case Type I believe the CVS: Promoting Drug Adherence case follows the elements of an evaluations case. This case in particular focuses on the decisions made by Foulkes surrounding drug adherence through new programs. Additionally, this case already provides us with the decision CVS chose to make, however, an analysis of this decision is not given and therefore a personal evaluation and analysis is crucial. Ultimately, the question is how to enhance the Pharmacy Advisor Program to achieve better results in the future. Problem Statement The problem statement for this case asks how Foulkes can show to the company’s stakeholders how investing in adherence would have a valuable and positive impact on CVS Health’s profitability. What made this challenging was CVS Health’s unique company structure which requires them to find a balance between helping the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) clients save while also providing plan members with access to reasonably priced medications and health outcomes. Calculate the dollar value to the additional adherence that comes from the Pharmacy Advisor Program to CVS per patient. In doing so, show your calculations. High Cholesterol: 0.5% adherence increase + 30% increase from phone calls 1,860*1.305= $2,444 $584 savings per patient Diabetes: 1.4% adherence increase + 30% increase from phone calls 4,413*1.314= $5,799 $1,386 savings per patient Depression: 0.4% adherence increase +…

Different statin groups can have certain differences in the structure, which in turn governs their water solubility and influences their absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion. Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) post-op arrhythmia. This complication can increase the patient’s chances for a longer hospital stay, stroke, or death; resulting in additional healthcare costs. Prescribing statins (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl COA reductase inhibitors) to reduce the risk of postoperative AF (POAF) is well studied, as they provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits within hours of initiation.
