English show jumping is a very complicated sport that requires skill, patience, and bravery from both horse, and rider. It takes several years of practice and sweat to master the complicated sport. Show jumping is played when a rider is to jump a course of fences on horseback in an acute amount of time. The jumps can vary in size from one foot to five feet. The rules of show jumping are very strict and require a large amount of skill. Consequently, faults can be given to competitors for knocking down a pole, jumping over the time limit, or getting injured. Faults are categorized by 1 to 4 points depending on how well the rider jumps. If a rider gets more than 12 faults or 8 refusal faults, he/she is disqualified. Any injuries during the event also lead to disqualification. Show jumping rules are very strict and are very precise in having the perfect amount of skill. Not only does show jumping require skill, but the advanced sport also requires patience. Although this results in many times of trial and error, we can simply learn from our mistakes. As a Mexican proverb once stated, "It is not enough for a rider to know how to ride; she must know how to fall."…
The most popular English event is jumping; show jumping takes place in an arena, while cross country jumping takes place outside on a long trail. There are a different number of jumps depending on the rider’s skill level. In show jumping, the jumps are usually poles that form an x or horizontal poles on blocks, and they are raised or lowered depending on the horse and rider. In cross country jumping, the jumps are made of wood, water, trees, benches, and bricks, and they cannot be moved up or…

As a horse trader and trainer, he built his Torrey Pines Stable in Schomberg, Ontario, into a successful enterprise. As a rider, Lamaze continued to perform well, representing Canada in an additional three world championships which were held in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006 as well as in 2010. In 2007 Eric…
Most movies present characters with supernatural abilities that humans would never be able to do (have), yet in the movie Divergent, the character Tris is surprisingly relatable to the viewers. In this seemingly Utopian society, all members must pick one of only five different factions, to which they must remain in for the rest of their life. The scene I chose shows Tris going through the Dauntless ritual after she chose them as her faction. She ends up climbing structures, getting onto a full…
years of professional training in horseback riding. “We’ve been riding forever and we take continuing education courses to increase our riding ability. We’re insured, we’re bonded and most of us that train here have been riding since we were young. Most of [the] horsemanship is a learning experience and through trial and tribulations we get it done,” Randy said. Western style is favored and mainly taught at the ranch. “Most of the riding that you see at special events like at the Olympics is…
From reading The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, I would add a piece of technology that would help Jim Smiley win more bets with his frog. I would add a device that would be capable of measuring jumping height, force from takeoff, and the landing force. This way Mr. Smiley could go out and gather frogs and test them until he singled out the best frog for him to use in his bets. Mr. Smiley taught the frog that he caught in the story on how to jump higher, but if someone else were to…

Have you ever wondered what goes through an extreme sports participant’s mind? We may have the wrong perspective of them and call them “risk-takers,” but little do we know how they actually feel. Let's see what studies have to show for extreme sports and their participants. To support what I am feeling, “Dr. Brymer’s Extreme Sports Not About Risk-Taking found that, “Although the image of those who take part in extreme sports was that of risk-takers and adrenaline junkies, the…
The last thing we all want to do when we are reading a book is flipping the pages back and forth to understand the page you we are reading. Blackwater by Kerstin Ekman, was one of the most interesting and most complicated books I have ever read. Being used to American writing style, it was pretty hard to stay on track with Black Water since it’s a Swedish novel. Being a detective is the last thing I would of have thought of myself. The readers of The Blackwater have become an unlicensed…
argue that playing extreme sports can be very dangerous in the life of the player , this isn't necessarily the case. As stated by Eric Bymers , the player is fully aware of the risks playing these sports will cause, however they do continue to play because these sports are meaningful in the life of the player. It may be true that these sports can be dangerous at times however each and every player has the choice to play. Choosing to play is something that you personally are responsible for.…
