The Shawnee Prophet by R. David Edmund is a book to tell the story of Tenskwatawa’s life and the way he believed he was leading his people, the Shawnee. Edmund researched a lot about the Shawnee people and why the Shawnee Prophet was the leading figure. I think one of the main themes from this book is the importance of Tenskwatawa and Tecumseh to the Shawnee people. Tenskwatawa, formally known as Lalawethika was a drunk until he was in a coma and when he woke up he believed he seen a vision. And the Shawnees viewed him as a prophet. He believed he could unite the Indians into an intertribal confederacy, and that the Indians should not have any relationships with the Americans. The book shows the reasons why Tenskwatawa was against the Americans, he was a leader of the Indian…

For this week’s forum I decided to research the Shawnee and Chickasaw American Indian Tribes due to the fact these particular tribes populated both areas the paternal and maternal sides of my family originated from. The Shawnee tribe mainly populated Northeast areas such as Ohio and Indiana. Their culture was based on a village lifestyle where farming and hunting were done by the men of the tribe while the women focused on household chores and took to pottery. The homes were round in shape and…

Shawnee Country Club, located on the east side of town, is a quiet and beautiful place. The “Country Club” is a place where I spend most of my time. The smell of fresh cut grass, and the sounds of purely struck golf shots are what makes this place what it is. Over the course of my daily trips to the Country Club, I realized that this place holds a lot of good and bad times for the golfers. Not only are there sounds of purely struck golf shots, but also groans of frustration coming from the…
