    and the death of their family member was the other person's fault. By the end of the book they both realized that there was really nothing to be mad at each other for. Caitlin was more considerate to Josh also because of the strong relationship between her friend Michael and Josh. Caitlin and Josh may have had lots of ups and downs but they both really just need someone to lean on throughout the tough times. They need someone who has been in the same situation who really understands the pain and struggle of family loss. What they really needed was each other. At the end of the book, Caitlin was given color pastels and she accepted them. Caitlin had never used any color in her previous drawings. Her world was just black and white with shades of gray. The author left us with an ambiguous ending. Caitlin’s is still the same person. Caitlin still gets very angry and yells at other people. She yelled at her dad to drive her to the Michael’s school play. “I’M WARNING YOU! I say in my warning voice. CAITLIN! DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE! FAST! NOW!” (199) Caitlin was being disrespectful and she didn't even notice. She was not showing any empathy for her dad. She blocked out everything else and just focused on getting there. Also, at the beginning of the book Caitlin sucked on her sleeve when she was nervous and throughout the book continued to do so.
