On the day of the Socratic seminar, I was a bundle of nerves, extremely stressed out about how I will perform during the seminar. The conflict between the Christians and the Jesus Seminar has been an ongoing struggle since 1985. The Jesus Seminar, founded by Robert Funk, originated in 1985 as around 70 biblical scholars set out to determine the legitimacy of Jesus’ sayings (Dart). Unit 9 seminar was the one of most helpful seminars. Over the course of 9 weeks a lot of information was covered making it difficult at times to keep up and completing grasp the information. The professor explained everything that was required and went over examples for each question. The thing I most enjoyed in the socratic seminar was how easily the ideas flowed. Our class isn’t a shy class so mostly everyone contributed and the discussion time wasn’t wasted on awkward silences. Our class not being shy helped the seminar be successful, we were talkative and brought up interesting points that made you think.
