When thinking of prophets in the modern day world, Leonardo Dicaprio is most likely not one of the first names to come to mind for most people. Perhaps, it would not even come up at all. Sure, he is a very well-known actor and millions of people have probably heard his name or seen one of his movies, but most people do not see beyond the surface. Besides being an A-list movie actor, Leonardo created the Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation, a foundation that serves to “implement solutions that help restore balance to threatened ecosystems, ensuring the long-term health and well-being of all Earth’s inhabitants”. Whether it is conducting research about climate change, funding projects to protect wildlife, or educating others on ocean conservation, Leonardo is constantly working with his foundation to change the world. However, some people are very doubting of Leonardo and his work. One news reporter summed up these doubts when he said “Who better to educate world leaders on made-up climate change … than an actor from Hollywood with zero years of scientific experience” (Before the Flood). But like Heschel said, “People may remain deaf to a prophet’s admonitions; but they cannot remain callous to a prophet’s existence” (22).
