In my future social work profession, I would like the opportunity to become a school social worker. As a result, my rural homestay really confirmed my compassion of one day becoming a school social worker. During my rural homestay, I gained a better understand of the school system in a village in Uganda. My host family consisted of two tatas and their many grandchildren. The two tatas were both teachers but were both recently retired. One of the tatas worked at a government school and the other one worked at a private school. Therefore, I had the opportunity to learn, discuss, and ask questions about the education system in Uganda. I had the opportunity to visit a government school as well as a private school during my rural homestay. When I visited the government school, I was very surprised at how many children attended the school because the school was small.
