As a Boy Scout I know the many dangers of hiking and camping, I was taught the golden rule of camping and even the Boy Scouts of America’s motto is “Be Prepared.”. The meaning of this motto can mean a multitude of different terms, hence it’s name “Be Prepared”. However, there is a second and even more important rule of an adventurist, letting others know of your whereabouts and your estimated return time. The reason is simple; if you let someone know about where you are going, then your chances of survival during an event has a good outcome. Let’s say you are hiking along, minding your own business until your trip of a pesky rock and end up spraining your ankle and you are incapacitated. It gets better, you thought you were tough and you did not tell anybody of your location. The rescue teams cannot find you in the massive area you had your ankle sprained in so congratulations! Due to your lack of knowledge of hiking’s most important rule, you died. It is not always the case that you end up dying from not remembering to tell family or friends of you location or return time, most of the time you return safely, it's quite rare for an emergency to happen, but there are a few miracle stories out there that could have been easily avoided if the victims informed others. Back in 2003 a man named Aron Ralston went on a hike through the Bluejohn Canyon, in southeastern Utah. Nobody knows of his location or his returning time, he just goes off canyoning nearly eight miles from his car…

He had two lessons planned in case one could not be completed. For instance he arranged both an indoor and an outdoor scavenger hunt because it was snowing, granted he allowed us to attempt the scavenger hunt in the snow. He was so passionate in everything that he did, that is why his students loved him. He could make anything turn into a catchy song to help us remember. What set Mr. Lilly over the edge of all other teachers was what he did the day before Spring Break. Lilly’s Battle Royale…

One activity that did not go well in one class is a virtual tour/scavenger hunt of the newly opened African American Museum for grades 3-5. First, we kept getting kicked off the Internet. It was supposed to be a self-guided tour and scavenger hunt, but when the Internet failed, half of the class could not access the required website. Then, the activity turned into whole class instruction using the smart board. This really took the fun out of it, and the kids were very disappointed. I am just…

Before going into our scavenger hunt, I thought that communicating with people without speech would not be a hard task; however, after approaching our first destination, I quickly realized that this scavenger hunt would be more challenging than I originally thought. Every person that we tried to communicate with seemed very confused and gave us funny facial expressions. My group signed to each other, and the people that we were trying to communicate with were definitely wondering what was…

Each book takes the reader on one of the trails of Thomas and some of the other boys whom are immune to the Flare, a disease the keeps adapting and eventually makes them go insane.
