The show opens with a fast forward to the final episode of the season, similar to season one of How to Get Away with Murder (Robinson, 2015). A station wagon is seen flying down a dirt road and we see the three main characters (who are inside the car) looking behind them in a panic. Without any further context it will cut to the opening credit sequence which are panoramic shots of New Mexico, inspired by the opening scene of chapter 39 of House of Cards (Buchman, 2015). In the pilot episode, the audience is introduced to Det. Maya Vasquez, the town of Lake Arthur, and the strange occurrences going on there. The problems such as dogs running away and not coming back, a prolonged drought, lack of growth of greenery are implied to have been going on for years by the detective as she makes her way through reports and house-calls throughout the day. Vasquez makes her discovery of the fenced-off area in question at the end of the episode. As she pulls toward it in her police cruiser, her radio goes out and car starts sputtering. Hook: The last scene of the episode would be of her standing in front of a wide, fence-encircled expanse where the dry dirt of the grounds is cracked Episode 2 In episode 2, Vasquez begins her investigation of what she assumes to be a sinkhole. She begins asking the locals questions. She is warned by some townsfolk not to stick her nose to far into this and other suggest that the strange happenings have to do with extra terrestrials (a reference to their…
In the series Six Feet Under, the underlying color scheme is muted and cold. The strategic use of color in the series coincides with the underlying theme of death throughout the show. The first instance of the dark color scheme is shown during the show’s theme song, in the theme song there are many items that appear in gray, brown, and white colors. The flowers in the opening song of the show start off with bright green and pink colors, which quickly turn to dark brown dull colors as the flowers…
became a teacher because I loved to talk, but more than that I loved to share. As always, my mother was right. She believed in me, as well as many of the Tyler ISD teachers who taught me and for this I will always be grateful! It is my desire to believe in my students and encourage them to be the best they can be each day! From my earliest recollections I knew I wanted to be a teacher. My first classroom was in my bedroom closet where I taught Raggedy Ann and Andy, an overstuffed bear named…
A specific event that had a great impact on my view of writing is when I first remember reading an autobiography about Tyler Perry. Within this autobiography it talks about Tyler’s life as a child, how he grew up, and his family back ground. It talks about how he got into being a writer, producer, and an author as you know Tyler Perry is one of the most successful writers and entertainers in the film industry. Tyler Perry was born into a wealthy background and he had to save money and work hard…

Tyler Perry is one of America’s best writer because he dynamically portrays the black experience. Perry was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to his father Emmitt Perry, Sr. who’s highly abusive. On the other hand, his mother Willie Maxine Perry taught her son the fundamental values of love, family, perseverance through church. Perry’s writing is reflective of his family background from the character Medea. Moreover, Perry’s is subjectively and objectively geared towards portraying black issues…
Tamika Devonne Catchings was born July 21, 1979. As a young child she was being teased for the way she looked with big hearing aids. They picked on her in the classroom but they couldn't in sports. She outworked them and eventually she was better than them. When she was in the third grade she was tired of people picking on her so she threw her hearing aids. She overcame many obstacles in her life. She had several days where she wish she was normal. When she threw her hearing aids her…
portray the pipe burst that floods Macon’s home exposes the atmosphere not just in the house, but also in Macon. Before Tyler even begins describing the scene the demeanor is already implied by the weather. This part of the novel takes place in the dead of winter just after a snowstorm. Winter is usually associated with the cold and that piercing wind chill that goes right through you. Therefore, the reader can detect that Macon’s house will most likely correspond with the ambiance of the…
most stemming from Madea herself. This time, however, two famous Youtubers have joined the cast, making the movie even more enjoyable. The movie starts off by introducing Jonathan, the president of a fraternity that’ll be hosting a Halloween party at night, played by Youtube star, Yousef Erakat. Soon after, characters Tiffany, Rain, Leah and Aday are introduced as they are invited to the Halloween party by Jonathan and boys of the fraternity. Aday, played by Youtuber Liza Koshy, is hesitant to…
Tyler Perry Productions: An Awkward Perspective of American Life There is something about the quality of Tyler Perry comedies and movies that just resonate the root theatre characteristics. Roots Theatre is a prolific and dynamic theatrical movement in the Caribbean. Root theatre or grass root theatre a form of bawdy comedy filled with sexual innuendo. Perry’s comedies are an impressive exposition of the grass root working class expression of Black American life. Perry’s work is saturated by…
