    They learn about our laws, civic rights, education system and opportunities, immunization requirements, how to make doctor appointments, housing, how to work with their caseworker, and safety. Our program “Bridges to Safety” is a program for women where we suspect there has been trauma and is intended to provide domestic violence awareness. We are attempting to provide them with support and resources for healing. The New Roots Community Garden provides refugees the opportunity to begin or continue gardening or agricultural businesses. When a refugee has been here for 5 years or more, the IRC has an ESL class to prepare them for the citizenship test. The Salt Lake IRC is the one of the few offices with funding to provide extended case management; we provide 24-month case management. Organizational Structure of Agency The Salt Lake City IRC Executive Director is Patrick Poulin. Under him is our Deputy Director, Natalie El-Deiry and under the both of them we have managers that are over different programs in the IRC. Many of the managers have a senior specialist to help them with different managerial duties. The state department in Washington D.C. will send cases to our executive director Patrick and he makes the decision of whether or not the SLC IRC will take them. He then sends the cases to Carine, the casework manager, and she distributes them to the caseworkers. Patrick also sends cases to the health team, education team, employment, and housing.
