Traditionally, Anime is defined as animation only created in Japan. With the creation of Rwby, Rooster Teeth Productions has single-handedly redefined the traditional definition. Rooster Teeth Productions cooperated with Moyreak (Monty) Oum to create Rwby in thus ushering in a new era of Anime. It is a story of four young girls trying to find their place in the world, all while battling monsters, facing their inner demons, and balancing their social lives. The shows main protagonistic team for Rwby consist of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long. Each character is a representation of a classic storybook character, bears their own unique emblem, and has a custom transforming weapon. (Rush, Crunchyroll) Because of the depth of the plot and the stylistic qualities, it is a tragedy that so many stubborn people dismiss this controversial Anime. The highly debated series should receive the title of “First American Anime” for three reasons: its stylistic qualities, its original categorization in Netflix, and its creators ethnicity. For instance, it intertwines a strong theme of discrimination and racism with the many sub-races of humans identified…

The ad, released in 2010, features the model Robert Perovich, who took over the male model scene in the early 2000’s (Listal RSS). Although he has done editorials in Out magazine, he has never ‘come out’ as LGBTQ+ himself. It is, however, strongly rumored that he is gay (vooxpopuli). In the ad itself, Perovich is not wearing a shirt, but he is wearing white sailor pants and a “Dixie Cup” sailor hat (the latter of which has been used by the Navy since 1886). I hear noises of fellow sailors giving me pointers on what to do and the noise passes right through both my ears, like there's a hole threw my head. I slowly walk like a turtle to the boat. The tall boat stood in front of me like the Willis Tower. I begin to rig the boat and try to comprehend every word my dad tells me. Words of sailing knowledge slip out of his mouth like he's reading out of a textbook. While I set the boat up, my mindset is focused on what I'm going to do when I'm out in the…
