Saturday, December 24, 2016 at 06:18 Hrs. I observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Brock Services LLC building and Riverside Auto Dealership located at 341 US-90. The vehicle pulled up to the exit of the parking lot and remained stationary for a few seconds and then traveled east on the service road to Oak St. The vehicle turned south onto Oak St. at a high rate of speed as I was turning onto the service road from US-90. I lost sight of the vehicle until I arrived at Oak and Da La Point Dr. I observed the vehicle traveling west on De La Point Dr. and then south on Dubarry Dr. I followed the vehicle south onto Dubarry Dr. and into 2804 Magnolia Oaks apartments. Due to the change in the driving behavior upon my presence, erratic speed, and recent burglary of a business in the close vicinity, I initiated an investigative stop. I observed three occupants in a gold Suzuki Forenza (AL tag V63447) that came back to Paul Dube. Before my approach to the vehicle I observed what appeared to be and exchange between the driver and passenger. The back window was broken out and covered with plastic. I made contact with the female driver Erika Allen, and asked why they were between Brocks and Riverside auto dealer after closing hours. Allen advised she was lost and got turned around in the fog trying to locate Magnolia Oaks. I asked for Allen’s driver license and she was not able to provide them. She was very nervous and was shanking uncontrollably. I asked the male…
What is happiness? Do we have a right to have it? In the essay “We have no Right to Happiness” C. S Lewis claims that we do not have a right to happiness and sets his foundation on an anecdote. Throughout our life we meet so many different people; some are happy while some are not, but it is not up to us to decide whether they are happy or not, and what makes one person happy would make another person happy, or whether it is the right path to happiness. In the article mentioned above, Lewis…
“A Grief Observed” tells us about the experiences of its author, C. S. Lewis, during his time of darkness, of grief, anger, confusion, and doubt. It tells us about Lewis struggle in life, especially after he loses his most loving wife Joy Davidson due to cancer. In the first chapter of this book, Lewis…
I recently read a book titled Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, and I think it is an exceptional example of a fantasy book. The book is about a young boy named Jacob Portman who is fascinated by stories that his grandfather (Abe Portman) would tell him at such a young age. Later on, when he grows older, Jacob assumes that all the stories that his grandfather told him must be fiction. But later when a horrific tragedy occurs and Abe Portman dies, Jacob questions what…
Weston was a physicist, obsessed with the idea of living forever. Later in the book Oyarsa (a sort of spirit entity) says that Weston has been “bent by the Bent One”. Bent is the Malecandrian word for bad or evil, meaning that in the sense of an allegory Weston had been corrupted by Satan. Satan being “the Bent One”. Weston got together with his colleague Devine to travel to Malecandra, which is Mars, and try to avoid the end of Earth by jumping to another planet. In a way he was trying to…
Hence, he cannot understand why God created mankind. He cannot understand how God could love the world so much that he gave his only son so that he could die on the cross for humans’ sins. He doesn’t understand why God wants to reward humans in Heaven for their virtues and beliefs. By exploring Screwtape’s misunderstanding of the basic human idea and his incomprehension of love, Lewis composes his own theory of what human’s love should be. Screwtape believes that one has to love themselves…
C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland, on November 29, 1898. He was a Christian author and most of his writing consisted of apologetics and philosophy. He is best known for his famous book series, The Chronicles of Narnia. He also wrote another classic novel entitled, The Screwtape Letters, which covers the many ways that a high ranking demon, who is called Screwtape, temps an ordinary man referred to as the Patient. Although it proved to be very difficult, the Patient perseveres in…
in service, Lewis is injured during the Battle of Arras. After recovering from his injury he was discharged and sent back home so that he may continue his college career. It was not until a year later that he decided to pick his studies back up at Oxford University. During his time off he made his first publication “Death In Battle” in the February issue of Reveille, marking his start as an author. After his studies Lewis had a long exchange with J.R.R. Tolkien, a devout Roman Catholic and…
households, and learning to use a computer and the Internet. She enjoyed playing bridge online with different people from around the world, while also becoming a regular in Banny Horseman’s bridge games and Ladies’ Night at the Grill. Despite her lack of mobility due to crippling arthritis later in life, she continued to be an active part of Buck Hill and always found time to “lunch” with friends and family at the Fairway Grill. Health issues forced her to move to Connecticut in 2015, but…
What Is in a Name? Does your name reflect what you do in your life? If you were a character in C.S. Lewis’s book, Perelandra, your name would describe you, and reveal your personality. C.S. Lewis used the names of his characters to portray their significance, and their place in the plot of the story. His characters’ names have been thought-out, making each name coordinate with the overall story, and coordinating with the stories hidden beneath the main plot. Each name is intentional, and has a…
