These are extremely popular and are names we know off the tops of our heads as persistent shoppers. Terry Lundgren is chairman and the chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc. with Jeffrey Gennette being the President. d. R.H. Macy & Co., was founded by Rowland Hussey Macy. He started by opening his own needle-and-thread store in 1884. After this business failed, he opened up a dry goods store. He had a multitude of jobs following and ended up opening a fancy dry goods store in New York City. After having a grand opening, it became a department store and this is where his journey and the beginning of Macy’s began. The success of Macy’s began to expand and the department stores began to pop up everywhere. The company currently operates about 870 stores in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.
