schoolers. However, the paint tends to chip after four years which is about the average amount of time for a student trumpet. Although most trumpets have a similar build each brand has slight differences in the build of their trumpets. For example, some brands make the valve caps bulky or they make the spit valves bigger. Additionally, the mechanics of the Advantage are superior to many other intermediate level trumpets; this is partly due to the fact that Yamaha makes its valve caps round and less bulky than other brands that use a hexagonal shape which can make polishing the instrument a challenge. Another thing that makes the Advantage superior is its sturdy build and the ease of cleaning the interior. Most importantly is the movement of the slides and valves because no one wants to have to stop performing to fight with stuck slides or valves. The Advantage has smooth movement of valves and slides up to three weeks after oiling valves and greasing slides. The only catch is it can take a few weeks after purchasing a new Yamaha Advantage to get this result as the instrument has never been oiled before so there is nothing to keep the metal of the valve and the valve casing from rubbing against each other causing the valves to stick. Finally, to the untrained ear all trumpets seem to be the same; however, that is not correct there are many things the set these magnificent instruments apart such as the appearance and mechanics mentioned earlier. But tone is what some argue to…
