    In the beginning, there was only sadness. Everywhere you looked you would see villagers of Athens crying, plants dying, and no sunlight just darkness. Markeus’s mother, Kares was very depressed. She was trying her very best to raise Markeus to be a great hero and take the right path of life. Kares was a poor villager that had to grow her own crops in order to survive. But, the sunlight were blocked by the clouds, and there was no happiness. Her crops were constantly dying. Kares and her son Markeus never had enough food to eat and always had struggled with money. Markeus knew he needed to take responsibility. He couldn't bare to see his mother suffering day and night, trying to keep the both of them alive. He told his mother that he will begin his journey at sunrise the next morning. Markeus climbed the hills and mountains to get to Apollo’s palace. When he finally arrived, Markeus entered the palace and approached Apollo. Apollo was the god of the sun, but the underworld has stolen away his ability to make happiness and light. “The underworld won the war between light and darkness.” Apollo explains. “You have the ability to go down into the sirens deep waters, and take back the box of light.” Apollo then gives Markeus an elixir, which gives him the power to breathe and see underwater. “You have to be very wise about this elixir, it gives you the powers to breathe and see underwater for only a short period of time.” Apollo then tells him that there is a siren guard…
