    He changed history and the way we think of deaf people. Abbe de l’E’ppe was known as the “Father of the Deaf” because he started the first school for the deaf in 1760 where he admitted deaf student and taught them sign language. He came to know and impact Laurent Clerc’s life because he came to Paris to get an education and that is what he gave him. Dr. Itard was the doctor who came to school to cure the boys of their deafness. He would try many experiments on the boys so that he could fix them. Laurent Clerc’s life was impacted by him because when he would try the experiments on the boys at the school and try to the cure and he wouldn’t get any response or any help from the boys he would get very angry and lash out at the boys. Roch-Ambroise Bebian was the godson of Abbe Sicard and he came to teach sign language at the school in Paris. He was known as one of the most caring and loved teachers in the school because he actually took the time to learn the language and wanted to teach what he knew. He was among one of the favorites for the boys including for Laurent. Pierrot Janty was the senior boy in the school who was in charge of making sure the boys obeyed the rules and stayed in line. If they did not follow the rules he was not afraid of making sure they understood the rules by a little harsh punishment.
