Mr. Gore’s original intent was to solve customer 's problems by providing customized wiring products. As time has passed W. L. Gore and Associates has been part of some of the greatest advances in technology and events in history. The company provided the wiring for IMB 's first digital computer system, the company also provided wiring to the US defense department and NASA. The landing of NASA 's Apollo eleven on the moon was one of the proudest moments for W. L. Gore and Associates. Bill Gore provided all the wiring material that made the landing and exploration of the moon possible. W. L. Gore and Associates started manufacturing simple customized wiring, today products of the company exceed over 1,000 different products. Today Gore products and technologies are present in cars, the military, energy, pharmaceutical and biotech, chemical processing, industry and manufacturing, computers, space exploration, surgery, clothing, and guitar strings.
