When a transformation occurs upon an individual, the transformation can better them due to the impacts they receive from difficult situations. When people connect with other individuals they can transform each other to be better. When Jamal accidentally leaves his notebooks in William’s apartment, William goes through and corrects Jamal's writing. This helps Jamal become a better writer. Jamal connects with William by allowing him to correct his writing. This transformed Jamal to become a more superior writer by allowing him to find an easier method to writing due to the advice from William. “Forrester brings out Jamal’s intelligence and Jamal brings Forrester back into life, says Rob Brown.
