A lawsuit has been filed against 2 biological supply companies, claiming that they sold fetal tissues acquired between the time-frame of 2009-2015 from planned parenthood at extremely expensive prices around the world which is against the law. The biological companies claim that the allegations of overpricing dead fetal tissues extracted from aborted babies held against them are just “accounting issues”. The 2 companies has charged as much as $700 a vial for fetal tissue that only costed them just $20 to process, according to prosecutors. A law professor at UC Irvine, Michele Goodwin stated that almost all companies that process human tissue charge huge mark-ups, including some “that make this look like this is nothing,” she said. “Why not go after the big fish here?” said Goodwin who is a member of the Planned Parenthood Board. Michael Tein, a lawyer for both companies, stated that his clients complied with regulations and never made any money. “This is a civil lawsuit over accounting issues,” Tein said. “We look forward to explaining the full story to the court.” This article is important to science since this case is important to others down the road which may cause the continuation of illegal fetal tissue sales.
