The song was number one internationally and became one of the leading selling singles of all time with over 10 million record sales. Poker Face was nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the 2010 Grammy awards (Darmayasa 3). The song is a good depiction of the genre I am focusing on in this paper. The inclusion of the artists and dancers in most of the shots throughout the entire video proves that Poker Face is a pop song. Indeed, Gaga’s music video involves the conventions and codes discovered in dance-pop music videos. Author Poker Face was written by RedOne and Lady Gaga’s whole the production was done with Red One. The music video was directed by Kay Ray and assisted by Mandler Anthony. Poker Face was filmed at a luxury villa in Poker Island. Additionally, the music video premiered on October 2008 (Darmayasa 4). In an interview, Gaga stated that the song was meant to be a tribute to her roll and rock boyfriends.
