Kinnell’s use of figurative language to represent natural phenomena in the poem blurs the line between primitive and rational to produce an introspective exploration of the human experience. Kinnel also highlights how man is both one with nature while also being apart from it. The poem takes a narrative form, which complements the theme of exploration Kinnell presents. The poem tells the story of a man attempting to reimmerse himself in nature and reconnect with his primal self. The setting follows the speaker in pursuit of a bear in the wild during the winter. He is acting as a hunter and his obsession with the bear develops the elaborate overarching metaphor…

the combat of "me vs them", what an ethical egoist may view as insignificant, or may not seem morally condemnable to them, may matter to everyone else. Ergo, it is disputable why anyone would want to adopt, or implement, such means as a way of life that unashamedly defends and encourages behaviors paradoxical to common-sense morals/values such as fairness, friendship, or any other standards that we intrinsically hold high. Consequently, due to this manner of thinking, it is in the ethical…

In preparation for fractions number talk what I observed was very beneficial for students at the carpet it allowed students to discuss and share with one another. I liked the fact that after a student share students had to give a particular cue saying if they agreed with peer. I thought that was awesome. I also like how she went over what to expect during learning at table and how students will share. So some type of feedback was to be expected even if student did not still quite understand. As…

One, two, three, four, five, and the list goes on. I had a notebook in the third grade in which I would write numbers from one and beyond. Unfortunately that list was never finished; the fact that one could begin to write numbers from the day they were born to the day they would die and would not even be close to infinity is both scary and fascinating to me. This blew my eight year old mind. It sparked this passion in me to expand my knowledge of numbers, how they work and why they worked. Now…

check for comprehension while teaching the lesson, and this shows that she cares whether or not the students understand the information (Ciambella, 2009). As far as the assessment, the teacher explained how she would prompt the students with questions during the lesson, and also give each student a worksheet that they fill out and explain how they got the answer (Ciambella,2009). I do think that the assessment is reasonable because it provides the students with practice during and after the…
