    Health Care Self Analysis

This weeks class was on worldviews, cosmologies, and religion and how it relates to healthcare. It was interesting to see how various types of cultures have different views and how sometimes it can be source of conflicts when deciding on health care interventions. I redid the Astro chart and I had to look at my birth certificate to see what time I was born at. I usually don’t believe in these astrological signs or palm reading but it doesn't hurt to look. My rising sun, or the first impression that I give to people, actually describes me quite well. I “tend to be quiet, reserved, secretive and, at times, quite difficult to understand”. I have been told that I am a negative thinker, but I explain that it always good to be cautious. There isn't danger at every corner, but to be aware that certain activities can lead to be dangerous is important. The sun, who I naturally am is accurate. I I tend in to hold in my feelings because I don't know how to say them so people often see me as quiet but I worry and think a lot. Something that I have to work on is getting less angry. I am not an angry person and I rarely get angry, but when I do it is pretty bad and leads to me being unforgiving. I tend to let go and forget because it is not good to hold in the anger. The moon, my deepest soul, was interesting. I never realized that I was “freedom oriented”. I wouldn't say that I hate taking orders, but I do like having my options open. Overall this reading just reminds me that in each…

Being given a handout titled “The Rancid Myth of Columbus” and reading the sardonic comments being made about him in our Frontiers textbook were a breath of fresh air. The remarks made in the text finally provided a brutally honest depiction of the events that transpired following Columbus’ arrival. For example, the book relates “This surmise was typical for Columbus, who assumed the superiority of his culture in all things”, which is something that no textbook or teacher prior to this course…

Cooking with oils can be considered as one of the most common cooking techniques around the world. Within the process of cooking, heating with high temperatures is often applied to break down large polymeric food molecules and for easier absorption of nutrients by our guts. However, heating oil repeatedly with the presence of air, for certain period of time, might cause undesired chemical changes within the chemical characteristics of the oils, for example lipid oxidation, which is responsible…

During the early 20th century, swarms of immigrants began coming to America, in hopes of a better life. They were soon exposed to several forms of corruption--although many did not know of this. This was because most immigrants came from poverty, and did not have a high end education. Many of them did not speak English, and therefore could not exactly comprehend the U.S. government laws, community rules, and the way businesses worked. In The Jungle, Upton Sinclair presents a wide range of…

I recently read that Congress is adding a new national holiday and were looking for citizen input. Billie Joe Armstrong should have his own holiday, named Green Day, for having his band be very influential, helped renew interest in punk rock in the U.S., and has sung a variety of different music types that appealed to a large audience. Billie Joe Armstrong’s band was very influential to the music industry. A Times UK article states about the American band, “their influence has been all over…

Additionally, the number of people lining the shop along with the cars resonates with the sense of small space “Bandit’s Roost” had. In Riis’ photo, one notices how dirty and rancid the place felt with the damp streets, dirty clothes hanging off the line. Unlike that, this photo is a lot cleaner, as there seems to be no trash on the streets, as well as the fact that the lines on the photo are clean and straight. That is partially due to the use of the neon signs, but also due to the quality of…
