I started out both days of a busy weekend by running the Rugged Maniac course in Englishtown NJ. At this point, I have pretty much done most of the OCR’s that are on my bucket list to complete, but Rugged Maniac was one of the few left that I had yet to complete, so I was excited about this weekend and the chance to run the course on both Saturday and Sunday. • Festival / Spectator Area: I have participated in four other different events at this specific Englishtown venue and all but one have used the same section/area to setup the festival area. Rugged Maniac used the area much like the two previous OCR’s that setup in the same area and created a well-balanced area with two obstacles setup just next to the festival. The DJ/MC also did a really good job with each wave and playing good music the entire time. Good times where had by everyone and the turnout on both days was pretty large. • The Course: The course started out with a sprint away from the festival area and went on for a while before coming to the first obstacle “Jacob’s Ladder”, which was ladder wall climb. After the first obstacle the course continued on a short distance and came to the next obstacle “Barricades” which was a series of four foot walls. At this point the course made a turn into the woods and out of the direct sunlight and a short sprint later was “Quad Burners”, which was a series of high dirt/mud hills to climb up and back down. If I recall, the course now went for a trail run in some very…

Storm brought his empty plate into the kitchen. He stood by the sink and watched Penny out in the patio. She stood back listening to the conversation between her mother and father, Arnold, and the two plump astronomers from ANU. She nodded her head politely and no doubt about it, gave polite chuckles at just the right time while they chatted on and on with each other. He caught her eye as he walked past the open doors into the living room, and gave her a wave as she gazed over her shoulder at…

Storm brought his empty plate into the kitchen. He stood by the sink and watched Penny out in the patio. She was nodding her head as the plump astronomers from ANU were describing in great detail some event to Franchette. He could tell she was bored from the smiley mask she wore. She would politely chuckle at just the right time while they chatted on and on, endlessly, about friends, colleagues, and neighbours in Sydney and Canberra. He caught her eye as he walked past the open doors into the…

and reformed into a powerful machine of industry. But as the economy and boomed, society rotted and decayed. Poverty was rampant everywhere and death infested the cities. The Progressive Era served as a time in which the wrongs of the Industrial Revolution were righted. Journalists, politicians, suffragists, and more rallied to clean the filthy and corrupt machine the US had become. Nellie Bly was a member of the Progressive journalists, a muckraker, and made a great impact in reforms. Because…

The Industrial Revolution had greatly changed the dynamic of American lives, creating the rise of big business and masses of new workers and people. From this, emerged new issues that sought resolution in the coming age. During the Progressive Era from 1900-1920, Progressive reformers and the federal government fostered moderate reforms in corporate regulation, labor reform, and extending suffrage. However, the persisting continuity of limited legislation and hands-off government did not…

Pink Floyd, being a psychedelic rock band, and Have a Cigar’s composition exemplifies this fact. On the contrary, Foo Fighters are a Rock band and hence their version of Have a Cigar represents this genre of music. Foo Fighters chose to make a plethora of musical choices that makes their version sound more like a Rock song and less like Pink Floyd’s version. The first choice they made was changing the instrumentation, Foo Fighters’ version does not use a synthesizer which was a key aspect of…

outside of the Annabelle River. In my professional opinion, Lot S would be the best location for new construction of homes. Lot S is located in the southeast corner by the Annabelle River and the Cyclone Creek. This will be the safest location for new residents to live because the house would be located on a steady sloped hill that goes off into a flat clearing. This will prevent any future flooding from affecting the new build. This location is also far enough from mudslides and rock falls to…
