Every February my family and I attend the Parker 425. The Parker 425 is an off road race. The events of the race start on Thursday and will end on Sunday. The event is located in Parker Arizona. The entire weekend is packed full of excitement and adrenaline. On Thursday the event will start with the time trials The time trials are how the starting positions are selected. Each of the racers will take turns at running the course. The times are logged and then placed in order from fastest to slowest. These times are the order in which the racers will start. The next event to occur on Thursday is my favorite of the day. It is the downtown experience. The entire downtown is shut down to vehicles. The streets are lined with vendors who are selling food, drinks, and different styles of racing gear. The pit crews of the racers all get together to compete in the pit crew challenge. In the challenge the crews are timed on how long it takes them to service the car. This event really gets the crowd going and ready for Fridays events. Friday starts off like any other racing event. The racers will have a chance to get registered for the race. They will then attend the racers meeting which goes over all the rules of the race. The last part of Fridays events is what the audience looks forward too. Contingency usually occurs in the afternoon into the evening. The parking lot of the casino in town is filled with racers and their off road vehicles. People fill the parking lot meeting racers…

This was a huge eye opening experience. For a person from small town America traveling to the other side of the world and seeing a culture completely foreign to anything I had ever seen shocked me. As soldiers who were living on a base that would receive incoming rocket fire, eating the same meals week after week and going out on route clearance patrols looking for IED’s. Even as a Private First Class I was…

“And there she was - lying motionless on the old-fashioned, discolored rug in the living room. At that moment, as I was staring into her void eyes, I became a living corpse myself.” I swallow hard, as the vision of her lifeless body flashes right before my eyes. Eight years later, the memory is as vivid as ever. Hugh listens carefully, periodically diverting his gaze away from me. “I was distrusting my own ability to see. However, her skin, undeniably, appeared paler than usual. Her bruised,…

The Eye of Providence, also known as the all-seeing eye of God, represents how God watches over humanity, and is a symbol that is typically considered a sign of God's love and care; however, it also has a much more sinister connotation due to its relation to surveillance. The Eye of Providence is shown hovering over an unfinished pyramid on the American dollar bill, and while many conspirators believe the Eye is used to show the United States watching over and protecting its citizens, it also…
