    Maturity. A topic with so much depth. Yet its hardly talked about. When I hit puberty I heard you’re becoming a woman… did this mean I was maturing? Society hears comments like these from family and friends all of the time. As stated in the dictionary maturity is said to be when one is fully developed. But what does fully developed even mean? Maturity is shown in many different ways, one possibly being age. It is like in our society there was something wired in our brains telling us that the more years you have lived the more mature you are. Could it be that once you have turned 21 your fully mature/developed? How can one decide without having a preconceived judgement. For example, in America the legal drinking age is 21 but in Australia the legal drinking age is 18. Is there a difference in the maturity of our population against theirs? If not how did they decide these rules. Basing it off of personal experiences is not enough evidence, considering we now have neuroscience. Their are many ways one can be misjudged beforehand. Even without recognizing, people judge others on physical and emotional maturity and the most popular, age. What kind of things determine an individuals maturity level? “The older, the wiser” a quote paraphrased by many. The most common judgement of maturity occurs based on physical appearance.
