found that the hydrogen bonding behaviour of Isonicotinamide is of interest since different polymorphs exhibited different hydrogen bonding and molecular orientation. This present work however focuses on the qualitative phase identification and crystal structure analysis of Isonicotinamide nucleated from solvent ethanol. Powder X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD) technique has been employed in this identification and analysis. The Cambridge Structure database (CSD) software has been used extensively in this analysis to produce simulations of Isonicotinamide and its polymorphs. METHODOLOGY. Sample of isnicotinamide crystals in ethanol was collected and grinded in a mortar. The powder was placed on a silica disc and spread as thin as possible to ensure a good diffraction is obtained. This sample was loaded on the auto-sampler frame in the X-ray Powder diffractometer (BRUKER AXS). On the computer system, using the XLD wizard software, the parameters for diffraction were set as follows: Starting angle - 5˚ Final angle - 40 ˚ Step size (graduation of angle) – 0.03˚ Runtime – 19.28 minutes Step time – 1 second The corresponding results of the Powder X-ray diffraction was generated in XY.file and using the Cambridge Structure Database (CSD), the result was extensively analysed and resulting polymorphs of Isonicotinamide were identified. RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS. In this study, five (5) polymorphs of Isonicotinamide were identified and studied using Mercury software of the…

Lab 4: Crystal Structure and X-Ray Diffraction of Materials Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to study the relationship between the geometry of a sample and its diffraction patterns through an exploration of reciprocal space. In this experiment, both a single crystal piece of Si with a (004) reflection plane and a Si powder sample are scanned, as well as the peaks the locations of the diffraction peaks on the single crystal. The collected data is then analyzed to determine the…

Drug content in cocrystals was determined by taking equivalent amount of the powder containing 10mg of levofloxacin, dissolved in 10mL of ethanol, shaken for 10-15 minutes and the volume was made up to 100mL using simulated gastric fluid (enzyme free) of pH 1.2. The samples were centrifuged and filtered through 0.45 µm filter, diluted suitably and analysed using UV-Visible spectrophotometer (Systronics, India) at λmax of 227nm. All observations were done in triplicate. Fourier Transform Infrared…

This was when there were a series of different light bulbs that had to be observed on, off, and though a diffraction grating. (Sanders, 2). The other part of this section that was not described in Table 5 was the part with the array of LED lights. The observations were made through a diffraction grating as well and the light that was visible was in a continuous fashion. Let’s start with discussing the difference between experimental and calculated values of the wavelengths. In just about every…

Flawless Foundation Flawless foundation is the metaphoric foundation of makeup. It’s important as it holds the look together. Some people find foundation hard, because there’s so many different things to consider. Most people feel overwhelmed when they walk into a make up store, because they are clueless. A few things to consider are the undertone of one’s skin, the shade of their skin tone, and the skin type. Everyone’s skin is different, so keep trying. While foundation is hard; undertone,…

Joseph von Fraunhofer was a German optician and physicist who discovered and influenced how astronomers view the dark line spectrum, the spectrum of the sun and the diffraction of light. His discoveries turned him as a glassmaker with humble beginnings into a scientists whose discoveries would allow scientists after him to calculate the distances of stars and lead them to recognize that the universe is expanding. On March 6, 1787 in Straubing, Bavaria, Joseph Ritter von Fraunhofer was born into…
