not to make a sound. Poe and Sedaris story also made me think of my favorite show, which is “I Almost Got Away With It” that broadcasted on the ID channel. Slowing down was the second approach that I used, which gave me a chance to look up unfamiliar words or phrases, and it also gave me time to think about what expired the author to write a story that involved so much darkness and mystery. After reading both Poe and Sedaris, and David Sedaris stories, I came to the conclusion that David Sedaris “Memento Mori” story conveys truth and more realization, when it comes to real life situations. Memento Mori is a narrative that gives great details of the person’s surroundings and the story included Portobello Road market in London. After doing a little research I learned that that Portobello Road market in London is a real please, which is popular and it runs through Notting Hill. The location and the name of Notting Hill were used in a popular film. Another example, is the situation with buying the gift for “Hugh” that he did not like and trying to buy the gift that he actually wanted. I know personally that buy gifts for individuals is hard work. STORY Recently I have had the desire to make some changes in my life. However, these changes were needed way before the desire started. One part of my mind wants to change the things around me, like my apartment, car and even my desk at work. It seems that every time I turn around there are items in my possession that I do not remember…

The car screeched as my mother slowed down to turned off the main road onto my grandparent’s dirt driveway. The top of the trees arched around the beaten dirt road casting a shadow that soon blocked the sun from my view. The feeling of the road tossing our car back and forth like it weigh nothing, caused my stomach to rock. The rocking got so bad my mother slowed down to 15 miles an hour as she navigated her way up to the main house. My grandparents have a chunk of land next to the Whitefish…

Robert Frost’s poem, “The Road Not Taken” shows his capability of writing his poems about life, as if he was familiar with the origins of the earth. In fact, Robert has lived in various farms throughout his life: Frost has experience in nature’s environment. While living on the Derry farm he was able to write great poems, but at the age of thirty-eight he sold his farm to move to England with his family, and there he arrived with three completed books: two were published in England (Voices and…

I have done plenty of challenging things in my life, but a few of those things were harder than others. Like a thirty mile hike. Right now you probably think I’m crazy for hiking up mountains for thirty miles! But I will never forget the experience of the beauty of the Sawtooth mountains and spending time with my grandpa. Also, I will never forget the massiveness of the three ridges we had to climb up. That was definitely not my favorite part of the hike. The hike started out at a lake called…

because they do nothing to ensure the causes are not repeated. Unlike the speaker in Shapiro's "Auto Wreck," I have never been in an “auto wreck,” but I have seen one while in the “traffic” that “moves around with care.” One Saturday morning, while at an intersection, a gigantic red truck slammed into a minuscule green Toyota. This collision eventuates in the green Toyota skidding up and down in slow motion then screeching to an abrupt halt. In the afternoon, while passing through the…
