    “The dog was lying on the grass in the middle of the lawn in front of Mrs. Shears' house. Its eyes were closed. It looked as if it was running on its side, the way dogs run when they think they are chasing a cat in a dream. But the dog was not running or asleep. The dog was dead” (2). Christopher John Francis Boone is the exciting young narrator of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, who will do anything to find the murderer of Mrs. Shears’ large black poodle, Wellington. He narrates in a way that is extremely detailed and puts readers in his shoes. In other words, Christopher is a compelling, unique narrator who tells an amazing story in his own way. Christopher Boone narrates in a way that makes readers want to continue reading his story to find out what decisions he will make next. He narrates captivatingly with just the right amount of suspense and surprises. On one occasion, Christopher and Mrs. Alexander are walking in the park when Mrs. Alexander tells Christopher, “Because. . . Because I think you know why your father doesn't like Mr. Shears very much” (58), this foreshadowing makes readers curious to learn why she says this. Soon we find out that Christopher’s mother and Mr. Shears were having an affair. Odd and complex obstacles are constantly being thrown at Christopher, so readers are always wondering how he will face them. People don’t always understand why he makes some of the choices he makes.
