    Insurgent Theme Analysis Revolt. One word that pretty much sums up the novel Insurgent. Insurgent is about Tris and Four, who are fighting against the faction Erudite in order to save all the other factions. Tris and Four, who are dauntless, find themselves in a world where divergent people are immune to mind control simulations. It happens that they are both divergent, so they need to use their minds as their greatest weapon. They encounter a within themselves. Throughout the novel, there are certain themes that become few obstacles along the way which really tests their relationship, and who they are apparent.Three important themes that are in the novel Insurgent include fear, loyalty, and trust. All three of these themes show up in different ways. The first important theme in the novel Insurgent is fear. During the book, Four and Tris put themselves through a test called the fear landscape. This test reveals a person's deepest fears and causes them to face them. While Tris is seemingly fearless, Four is not. His greatest fear was his father, because as a kid his father beat him. “So is he still in your fear landscape?” (Roth,289). This quote shows Tris asking Four if his father is still in his fear landscape. He replies saying he is but not in the same way. This is important because he stood up to him earlier in the novel.
